Chemistry at Concordia is a rewarding and academically rigorous field of study in which we explore the properties of matter—that marvelous stuff with which God chose to create the visible Universe. We pursue this aim together in the classroom, the laboratory, and discussing research. Class sizes, particularly in upper division courses and labs are small and cordial. Majoring in chemistry is not for everyone, but if you like science, find that math and physics come relatively easy for you, and have a strong desire to learn how matter works from single atoms to huge macromolecules like proteins and DNA, chemistry might be the subject for you. Our chemistry students enter careers in the health sciences (particularly pharmacy and medicine) or pursue graduate work in the natural sciences. We also send students directly into secondary education and into the chemical industry. Summative biographies of graduates since 2006 are included below including a description of their destinations immediately following graduation. |
