Link Library - not yet a 21st Century university library
Does this entry tell students that our resources are current
and our staff helpful?
Our circulation desk is well-used (a.k.a. worn out).
Our furniture may have been inviting back in 1980, but now?
A study environment should be uplifting and encouraging. Is this?
Yes, some of our books must still be found by using cards!
Students make do with our furnishings as best they can.
Team projects and group study are happening all the time now.
The library gets used heavily. It is still very important to
academic life -- more than ever since the information explosion!
We really need a better solution for student printing: one that
reduces waste, provides privacy and allows self-service.
Our rare gift books should be studied and used, but
we lack the staffing and special environment to
catalog, preserve, display, and provide access to them.
Is this an environment that will sustain our library staff
and encourage innovative approaches to serving Concordia?
Even a coffee break can be depressing in this staff room.
The bottom line: Link Library detracts from the Concordia experience.
Instead, Link Library should be a major contributor to student success
and the intellectual vitality of all Concordia.
